The other day I was at the driving range at Moundbuilders Country Club and a red tail hawk flew down and sat on the 75 yardage post. My buddies and I were admiring the majestic bird the way he just sat there looking for his prey. Tony Fox decided to see if he could make the bird move by hitting a ball close to him and what happened next was rather amusing, the hawk decided to try and capture the range ball for his prey. The bird tried and tried to pick up that range ball but could not sink his claws into the ball. Tim Pickering then fired several balls in the direction of the bird and each and every time the hawk flew over to the ball and tried to pick it up, one time trying to capture it in mid-air.
We were not sure what the hawk thought his dinner for the day was going to be, but he sure must have been hungry!
